A credit is the unit of usage for the API. A page scrape is 1 credit, a Wire action is a flat 2 credits, search is 3, and so on — the per-request table above lists every rate. Those rates are the same on every plan.
Top-up and signup credits never expire. Monthly plan credits are use-it-or-lose-it: each billing cycle your balance refills to your plan's allowance and unused plan credits don't roll over. When you run a request, expiring plan credits are always spent before your permanent ones.
