Google Sheets Add-on Privacy Policy

1. Scope

This policy covers the Anakin add-on for Google Sheets (the "Add-on"), published on the Google Workspace Marketplace. It explains what data from your Google account the Add-on accesses, why, where it is stored and who receives it.

When the Add-on sends a request to Anakin, Anakin handles that request the same way it handles requests from its other integrations, as described in the Connectors and Plugins Privacy Policy and our general Privacy Policy.

2. Google User Data the Add-on Accesses

The Add-on asks for three permissions, and uses them only as follows:

  • View and manage spreadsheets that this application has been installed in (spreadsheets.currentonly): the Add-on reads only the cells you select for Scrape selected URLs and the values you pass to its formulas, and writes results into the open spreadsheet: the column next to your selection, a new sheet it creates, or the formula cell. It does not open, list or read any other file in your Google Drive.
  • Display and run third-party web content in prompts and sidebars (script.container.ui): to show the Anakin menu, input prompts and the API key dialog.
  • Connect to an external service (script.external_request): to call the Anakin API. The Add-on can reach only https://api.anakin.io/.

The Add-on does not access your Gmail, Calendar, contacts, Drive files other than the open spreadsheet, or your Google profile beyond what Google requires to install it.

3. How We Use It

The Add-on uses the values you choose (URLs to scrape, search queries, research questions, a website to map) only to carry out the request you made, and writes the result back into your spreadsheet. It does not use your spreadsheet data for any other purpose.

4. What Is Stored and Where

  • Your Anakin API key is stored in your own Apps Script user properties, held by Google. It is sent only to api.anakin.io, as the X-API-Key header. You can remove it at any time from Extensions > Anakin > Set API key.
  • Formula results from ANAKIN_SCRAPEare cached in the spreadsheet's Apps Script cache, held by Google, for up to 6 hours so that recalculating a formula doesn't repeat the request.
  • Results written into your spreadsheet stay there until you delete them.

The Add-on keeps no other copy of your data. What Anakin stores about the requests it receives, and for how long, is described in the Connectors and Plugins Privacy Policy.

5. Who Receives It

The values you send through the Add-on go to Anakin, which processes them with the providers listed in the Connectors and Plugins Privacy Policy (for example, the websites you ask it to scrape and the search and AI model providers that carry out a request). We do not sell your data or share it with anyone for advertising.

6. Limited Use

Anakin's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

  • We use Google user data only to provide the features you use in the Add-on.
  • We do not use it for advertising, and we do not sell it.
  • We do not use it to develop, improve or train generalized AI or machine-learning models.
  • No person at Anakin reads it, except with your permission, for security purposes, or where the law requires it.
